Often employed in demanding jobs across industries such as property, finance, business and IT, Healthy, Wealthy and Wise individuals are in the career fast lane, working long hours to get ahead. Although the majority are from mid-life households, and the likeliest of all the Metrotechs to be married with kids, their local neighbourhoods are starting to attract younger, single residents. In typically Metrotech fashion, these younger residents often live in shared, rental accommodation, with a preference for apartments.
Walk with Me
I’ve been working at the same advertising agency for the past 15 years. I’ve had a few different roles so far which has kept it interesting, and I’ve got no complaints about my salary. You’ve gotta put in the hours but hey, as long as the cash keeps coming in that’s cool. The office is in town so I take the inner link bus to work and use cabs for getting around at night.
Keeping fit is important to me: I’ve got a personal trainer, I work out, and I take my Labradoodle Eddy for walks every morning before work. You know what they say, healthy body, healthy mind.
I live in Herne Bay with my husband Peter. We love entertaining at home – every month I pop down to Farro and pick up some fresh ingredients to cook for our regular dinner party. I like to change the cuisine each time: this month I’ve chosen French. I’m thinking Roquefort Confit de canard as a main … It’s the perfect excuse to pull out the gorgeous bottle of Claret I picked up on our last trip to Bordeaux — it’ll go perfectly! As desert i'll have some Roquefort cheese and a nice drop of Sauternes.
That’s still a couple of weeks away though. Just as well, because this weekend is shaping up to be a busy one! After work on Friday, some colleagues and I like to celebrate the end of the working week with a drink at The Elbow Room; we might grab dinner too if we remember. Saturday I’m meeting my girlfriend Pip to walk our dogs along the bay, then we might do some window shopping and have lunch at Andiamo. If our boys are good we’ll drop into Animates and let them pick out their own doggy treat. Saturday night’s a quiet one in with the hubby; then on Sunday we’re planning to try out this new cafe on Richmond Road. We’ll bring Eddy along of course.
Peter and I are planning to have kids soon. Eddy has been great practice and we can definitely afford it. I think the reason we’ve held off this long is because we’ve enjoyed our social life far too much! Speaking of a social life, I need to remind Grace to book our accommodation for our weekend escape to Cooks Beach in The Coromandel in a couple of months’ time.
