Many Older Set for Lifes may be in their twilight years, but they’re enjoying a new dawn: the kids are long gone, the house is paid off, the working days are behind them and there’s money coming in from super and investments (although a fair bit goes back out again to help out the kids and grandkids). Whether married, widowed or divorced, they’re looking to get the most out of life. They dress sharp, use the latest gizmos and stay fit by walking and following a healthy diet.
Walk with Me
My life is so busy now; every day is action packed. My daughter showed me how to book flights on the computer the other day, but to be honest she did most of the work. I’m heading off in September to see my sister, who lives in London. It’ll be great to catch up with Joan — I haven’t seen her in years. For all I know, it could be my last trip overseas. I’m starting to get on a bit, after all.
Tomorrow I’ve got my weekly game of bridge with the gals down at the local bridge club; I’m looking forward to catching up on all the latest gossip. I heard through the grapevine that Kerryn has tried that online dating; what a hoot! Even I might have to give it a go!
I’ve got the whole clan coming around on Sunday night: my lovely daughter, my three handsome boys and all my wonderful grandchildren. It makes me so happy when we all get together for a big roast dinner; it reminds me of the good old days when John was still around.
Anyway, enough of me blabbing on. I’ve got to quickly nip down the road and see James the local butcher. I’ve got to pick up a leg of lamb for the family roast on Sunday.
